Welcome to the website of Prestissimo Piano Studio!  I am so glad you are visiting the studio website.  This site will give you basic information regarding the studio and piano lessons.  Please allow me to introduce myself ~ I am Laura Dilatush Triplett, owner, operator and teacher of the studio.  My credentials can be found on the 'About' link, but let me tell you here about my teaching philosophy.  First of all, I love music and I love teaching music!

The study of music plays an irreplaceable part in the development of a child.  An article in the November 2013 issue of Education Week states, "New research suggests that the complexity involved in practicing and performing music may help students’ cognitive development. Studies released last month at the Society for Neuroscience meeting here find that music training may increase the neural connections in regions of the brain associated with creativity, decisionmaking, and complex memory, and they may improve a student’s ability to process conflicting information from many senses at once. Research also found that starting music education early can be even more helpful. '"It’s really hard to come up with an experience similar to that”' as an education intervention, said Gottfried Schlaug, the director of the Music and Neuroimaging Laboratory at Harvard Medical School. Not only does it require attention and coordination of multiple senses, but it often triggers emotions, involves cooperation with other people, and provides immediate feedback to the student on progress, he said."

In addition to this, the study and making of music is a fun and rewarding endeavor that you can carry through your entire life.  These are just a few of the contributing factors that make my job so enjoyable.  So whether you are considering the study of music for children, or are looking for a teacher for you as an adult, I hope you will contact me to talk about your goals.  I delight in creating musical programs that work for you and in getting the privilege to be part of the creative process of your life!

Musically yours,
Laura Dilatush Triplett
